DC BoE votes to close Village Learning Charter
Last night the Board of Education voted to close Village Learning Center Public Charter School in NE. Charges of fiscal mismanagement were cited as the reason for the charter revocation. A city audit showed the school made credit card charges for clothing and gifts, spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on leased space it did not occupy and failed to document loan repayments. The closing of Village Learning Center was expected. Last month the BoE had voted 6-1 to begin the shutdown process.
