JoAnne Ginsberg nominated for the BoE

JoAnne Ginsberg, special assistant to D.C. Council member Kathy Patterson, has been nominated to fill the vacant seat on the DC Board of Education. Ginsberg would be filling one of four seats on the Board that is controlled by the Mayor. The seat was vacated last year when the previous appointee, Mirian Saez, stepped down prior to her move out of the area.
Williams, in a prepared statement, praised Ginsberg's record of working to improve education in the District. "JoAnne has extensive knowledge of the challenges facing our public schools," the mayor said. "She brings a depth of experience to the position along with a long history of collaborative work that will serve the students well."

Williams added that Ginsberg's experience as a parent and council staff member combined with "her respect of Superintendent Clifford Janey will arm her for dealing with this city's most pressing issue."
Ginsberg's nomination will go before the DC Council for approval in July.
