Shooting near Meyer Elem. prolongs school day
A shooting a block from the Eugene Meyer Elementary School (and only several blocks from Cardozo High School) this afternoon caused the students to be held at the school two hours past the normal school day. The police describe the shooting as a "running gun battle" that resulted in one individual being shot in the leg. Two individuals have been taken into custody. Meyer officials decided to kept the students at the school for the additional two hours for safety reasons and to keep the children from having to pass by a live crime scene.
