D.C. Public Schools Superintendent Clifford Janey is expected to unveil his much-anticipated Master Education Plan during a special D.C. School Board meeting Jan. 24, officials said Tuesday.
Recommendations for school closings or consolidation, however, will not be included in the initial plan, said Michelle Walker, DCPS chief of strategic planning and policy. Walker said those recommendations will not be made until April.
The topic of school closings has become a hot issue as D.C. Council members debate how to fund an estimated $3 billion schools modernization project.
