Some DCPS employees to get retroactive 2% pay raises

Earlier today the DC Council approved a 2% pay raise, retroactive to 2003, for about 1,500 non-teaching employees.
The "memorandum of understanding" between the D.C. Board of Education and Teamsters Union Locals 639 and 730 is an interim agreement that addresses only pay raises while collective bargaining continues on a new contract.

The unions' last contract with the school system expired Sept. 30, 2003, and workers have gone without a pay raise since that time.

The two Teamsters locals represent support workers for the District's public schools, including operating engineers, custodians, full-time bus drivers, warehouse workers and food-service employees.
