Joanne Jacobs book reading at WEDJ charter school

Current education blogger and veteran columnist Joanne Jacobs has a new book out chronicling the first graduating class of the Downtown College Prep, a charter school in San Jose, California that caters to mostly poor, Mexican-American families, from their freshmen year all the way through graduation. The book is titled Our School : The Inspiring Story of Two Teachers, One Big Idea, and the School That Beat the Odds and Joanne will be in the District next Thursday for a book signing where she will also speak.

The event will take place on Thursday, May 11 at 5:30 pm at William E. Doar Jr. (WEDJ) Public Charter School for the Performing Arts. The school's address is
