Ballou's "Majestic" Marching Knights are going to the big apple

Huge news today for Ballou's "Majestic" Marching Knights marching band. They're going to play in the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.
Band members thought they were performing for the school, but once they arrived on the football field, a man surprised the band with an invitation to perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Ballou "Majestic" Marching Knights are one of 11 bands from around the nation chosen to perform at next year's parade on Nov. 26, 2009.

Band Director Darrell Watson was overjoyed with the news.

"We've been through a lot here at Ballou Senior High School, but we are living proof - living proof - that all things are possible," Watson says.

Parade officials say it's the first time a D.C. public school marching band has been selected for the event since at least the 1960s.
A huge congratulations to Band Directory Watson and the entire Ballou Marching Knights.
