Former DCPS employee guilty of ID theft

Rashelle L. Henderson, a former DCPS employee, pleaded guilty on Thursday to conspiracy to commit identity theft.
Rashelle L. Henderson, 22, of District Heights, stole the personal identifiers of public schools personnel and job applicants between April 2006 and March 2007 while working as a program support specialist in DCPS's Office of Workforce and Professional Development, prosecutors said.

She sent the stolen information to her friend, Tashana E. Crews, 25, of Oxon Hill, via e-mail, and the women used the information to open credit lines online, prosecutors said.

The pair successfully opened 30 lines of credit through which they obtained $40,000 in goods, services and cash advances, according to the terms of the plea agreement.
