New survey ranks state schools

Education Week has released their annual Quality Counts report cards tracking state education policies and outcomes. Good news for the DC metro area? Maryland schools ranked first and Virginia schools ranked fourth nationally. The bad news? DC ranked last. When questioned about this by the Examiner Chancellor Rhee points out (as we have before) that its a bit of a apples to oranges to compare states with multiple separate school districts covering urban, suburban and rural areas with DC, which is a single urban district. However, that excuse only gets you so far (and it ain't that far). DCPS still stinks.
